Project Overview

Muta[Gen]

Muta[GEN] is a podcast with an interactive map that delves into the narrative of mutation. The ethos of Mutoid Waste Company (1980s) and the site of Kings Cross became prominent research topics, and we explore how they are intertwined with waste, disuse, and change. This collection encompasses the past, celebrates the present, and captures the moments of flux in between. We frame the project around the idea of constant change. Change involves not only what is discarded but is waiting to be discovered – we unveil hidden narratives of a bygone era and how we interpret them today.
